The Cataraqui Source Protection Committee has successfully hosted drinking water roundtables in Gananoque and Mallorytown.
The next two community roundtables will be held in Brockville and Kingston Mills.
The Kingston Mills roundtable will be held on Monday, February 28 at the Holy Name School on Kingston Mills Road. The focus of the roundtable will be the municipal water system for the Cana neighbourhood. The draft wellhead protection area extends about one kilometre east from the municipal well and it is crossed by a railway line and two provincial highways.
The Brockville roundtable is being held at the Brockville Rowing Club on Tuesday, March 1. This roundtable will focus on the draft intake protection zones for Brockville’s municipal water system. Those zones cover part of the City of Brockville and they extend westward into the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley.
Both roundtables will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The purpose of the roundtables is to invite the community members to share their ideas for developing a local plan to protect drinking water.
Source Protection Committee members and Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority staff will share some draft policy ideas for discussion by the group.
Roundtable participants are encouraged to register in advance so that they can be sent background materials to prepare for the meeting.
Registration can be done by e-mail at roundtables@cataraquiregion.on.ca or phone (613) 546-4228 ext. 248 or toll-free 1-877-956-CRCA (2722) ext. 248.
